  • Toggle Fullscreen Kiosk Mode in Safari with AppleScript
  • Online video sites can provide a quick fix if you’ve a few minutes to spare and don’t want to crack open that Dostoevsky novel. Here is a script to help you watch online movies in style.

  • Keep Your Desktop Pristine with Hazel
  • Billed as a maid for your Macintosh and complete with a feather duster icon, Hazel by Noodlesoft automates entirely the business of keeping your Mac pristinely organized. Here’s how I’ve set it up.

Apples on the Internets: More From the Asides Category

Daring Fireball: “The iPhone without Flash only compares badly against an imaginary iPhone with Flash, not any actual existing competing phone.”

The maker of the excellent utility, Hazel, has published a candid write up of his experience participating in the Mac update bundle. Though there is some pointed criticism of bundle participation, most importantly, that the lion’s share of the profits go to the promoters, the developer seems to have found the overall experience beneficial.

Hardware test gives you the lowdown on the physical state of your Mac. On the newest models - MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and MacBook - holding down D during boot up will enter your machine into Hardware Test without needing a disk. Good to know.

TUAW reminds readers of the utility MultiFireFox 2.0, which allows users to run multiple versions of Firefox (good for web devs and those who need some plugin for FF that isn’t currently supported by the newest release).

To risk further diluting an already overused and abused term, this site is currently in a beta period of development. In other words, though the grand architecture is for the most part in place, there are many rough edges that need to be worked out. If you experience any bugs or glitches with any aspect of the site, please let me know in the comments. I'd really appreciate it!
