Drag and Drop Upload to Google Docs

google-docs.pngGoogle Docs has been steadily increasing in importance in my document crazy lifestyle. As might be expected, there is some inherent clunkiness in a web app when compared to a dedicated desktop app, but when actually creating or editing documents the perceived difference is almost nil. Moreover, it’s not as if Microsoft Office is all that snappy itself, being packed 95 percent with features that I (and I’m guessing a great majority of users) never use.

gdocsuploader-icon.pngDespite this relience on Google Docs for in the field editing and viewing of my documents, I create the majority of my text files on my computer first before uploading them. But uploading docs is the process that, because of its clumsy and manually intensive nature, has been the biggest deterrent for me in more fully utilizing Google’s service.

GDocsUploader almost completely eliminates this obstacle. Making good use of Google Docs’ API and pulling your Google password from Apple’s Keychain, GDocsUploader makes uploading office documents as easy as dropping them on the application icon on your desktop or in your dock. The first time you run the app it will ask for your username and password (which is then saved) and after uploading will give you the option to open up your freshly Googlized doc in your web browser.

GDocsUploader is free. Stop by the developer’s blog to learn more.
