Drag Menubar Items Off the Menubar!
An OS update recently left me with a MobileMe sync icon in my menubar, a service from Apple which I don’t use. Digging through System Preferences, however, I couldn’t find the option to turn off the menubar item and indeed after searching the web I found that there was no option if you aren’t logged in to MobileMe! So it’s obviously a hassle to sign up for a trial of MobileMe in order to turn off the menubar item. Fortunately, there is a very simple way to remove menubar items which doesn’t require a trip into System Preferences. Command click and drag the item off! Farewell, little annoyance.
