Flash for Mobile Safari In the Works
Mac Rumors: Apparently Apple is ‘collaborating’ with Adobe to bring the later’s Flash runtime environment to Mobile Safari. So says Adobe, anyhow.
Personally, I’m indifferent to the prospect. Apart from the occasional video that I have to email to myself and watch when I’m back at my desktop, I haven’t been pining for Flash in any major way. Moreover, this piece by Gruber makes it seem entirely unlikely in the first place:
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Apple will not publish a Flash player for the iPhone unless and until there exists some other mobile phone that (a) does run Flash, and (b) starts taking sales away from the iPhone. Which, my guess is, means never. Apple has no motivation to allow it.
These two conditions have yet to be satisfied.
