Gesture Based Navigation of Boxee on Your iPhone or iPod Touch
Boxee is the best couch-calibrated media management system for the Mac that I’ve found. Thus far, I’ve been navigating my media from my bed via my aluminum Apple wireless keyboard, and I’ve been really happy with this set up (bed-sores notwithstanding). But Boxee has changed the game with its new iPhone and iPod Touch controller, which is entirely gesture based. You navigate Boxee’s menus by dragging the ‘Boxee head’ around the screen. It’s exceptional. Drag to the edge of the screen to navigate longer lists, or scroll up and down by flicking the buoyant little face, which appears to be velocity sensitive. I played with it for about 10 minutes and it’s almost as much fun navigating to the Simpsons episode I want to watch as it is actually watching it. Like Boxee itself, the remote is absolutely free.
