Apple Pay Donation Campaign for World AIDS Day Returns This Friday

Apple today announced that it will again donate $5 for every purchase made using Apple Pay on Apple.com, through the Apple Store app, or at an Apple Store to The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria from November 29 through December 8. Apple said its donation this year will be capped at $3 million.

The Global Fund aims to combat diseases such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria throughout the developing world. Apple says its donation to the organization will continue to "help fund critical health programs that save lives."

Apple runs this donation campaign ahead of World AIDS Day on December 1 each year.

Apple has supported The Global Fund for 18 years through its partnership with the (RED) brand, co-founded by U2 singer Bono. Apple offers some products in a (PRODUCT)RED color, and a portion of the proceeds from every one of these products sold by Apple goes to The Global Fund. Apple said it has raised more than $250 million to date.

Then just donate the money… don’t try to capitalize off charity.

A great cause but Apple has enough money that they should match the donations rather than just passing them along

Did you read the article? Apple isn't passing along donations, they are making them.

In fairness to the person you are replying to, Apple’s money is shareholders’ money. Apple is donating shareholders’ money. So if you are an Apple shareholder, it’s you donating a share of that money to charity.

And note: I’m not saying that as a bad thing. My single largest investment is a Certified B Corp. I’m all about companies prioritizing things other than simply making money. (Which I’m sure is going to get me some downvotes for whatever reason, lol.)
I dont care whose money Apple or any other company is donating. My comment was specifically about people who complain about others not donating enough are usually the ones who do nothing. If you can donate, do it, if others do, say thank you and move on.

Good to see Apple donating. But Apple Pay is not available everywhere. It would have been even better if Apple donates a percentage of sales from Apple website across the world irrespective of the fact whether purchase was made through Apple Pay or not.
